We split up the trip coming home too. We stayed at the halfway point in Mitchell and then drove the rest the next day. We stopped at Wall Drug again on the way home. Charlie was all about the jackalopes there and I realized there was a photo op we missed so we stopped for a stretch break and some cheesy pictures. Quality stuff!
Lots of action in Deadwood...shootouts, shopping, food, mini golf, the graves of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane and Old West photos.
We spent the last day in the Black Hills at the Badlands in 103 degree heat. We stopped a couple times and did a few easy hikes but mostly drove through checking things out.
We bought peanuts and fed the prairie dogs on the way out of the park. The kids loved this part!
There were 5 different lines. It was scary at first and then lots of fun. So glad we did it!
We checked out the Needles Highway and then went to Center Lake for a picnic lunch, some swimming and fishing. We caught some glimpses of Mount Rushmore along the way.
